Netflix provided the Meridian IMF footage under the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International license, which was used to process the different video encodes on this website.
The Netflix licensed material on this website is also licensed under this public license. The source footage from Netflix (Netflix Meridian IMF Source footage ) has a UHD resolution with 59,94 fps. Before encoding, the Wavelet Beam Grain & Noise Management was applied. This unique image improvement method leads to high fidelity enhanced picture quality even at ultra low bit rates. We'd like to thank Netflix for providing the video community such a great ultra high resolution footage for technical evaluation. The source Merdian footage was provided as IMF package. The noise was already transferred into artifacts by the use of lossy J2K compression . This footage gave us all the interesting challenges like film footage, doubling frames, smoke, low light shots, flicker in parts of the image, fast motion and much more. Wavelet Beam Micro-Analytics is covering all of these different challenges in a full automatic mode. For companies who are interested in this technology, we also provide an uncompressed side-by-side version.
